Another Week and Another Challenge

To recap from last week and to share the results of that, I did a portrait composition challenge. It was to find my model's personality and find a way to photograph that trait. As well, it was also a great way for me to talk to models, be comfortable giving them directions, and to have some go-to shots that I could use if we both drew blanks. I would say I didn't become overly chatting with the models I met, but I did grow leaps and bounds in giving them directions. This was a huge breakthrough for me and I felt the changes I had made were paying off. In the end, it was a huge success and I did get all 1,000 pictures captured for the week!

This week's challenge is..... getting stuff done! I wish I could think of a challenge I could pull off, but I'm behind on a lot of things and I've got a lot of meet-ups planned this week. So, I think the challenge will just be simply shooting 1,000 pictures. Nothing fancy. I still need to do business cards and logo. It's so imperative now that I've gotta take time to focus on it. As well, another challenge coming up is making a transition to Lightroom 3 by Adobe. I gave Aperture 3 a try and now its trail is over and a lot of photographers have been migrating over to Lightroom. I figured I'd see what the hype was about before I dropped the $200 for what one of them costs. I'll probably make a few blogs about how that transition is going.

A Whirlwind of Crazy

So when we last left off, I was amidst the Hooters Swimsuit Contest finale in Kennesaw,GA(here). It ended up being a blast. I definitely got more keepers than last contest. It was hot and humid though, which took a toll on me and the equipment. I literally cooked my flash batteries and had to change them mid strut of one of the girls. Also, with what I learned from last time I got a great spot which allowed me to manually set my flash and therefore get faster recharges. It was that fast recharge that fried the batteries and almost the flash. What I didn't know was that I had some fellow APG'ers down the tent from me.

Brian (Dr. Woots) and Kevin V. were down shooting at the other end of the runway, but I wouldn't find this out and talk to the them about it until Sunday. Sunday was when we all met up at Rob Knight's C3 studios to have a North Atlanta Flickr(here) meet-up. Olivia, Ashley, and Miranda were all awesome models and did amazing jumping back and forth between the studio and outside. Ashley probably was the most enthusiastic about being outside because at one point she was up a tree laying around while we all took pictures.

Finally, last night, all the APG'ers that could met up at Elliot Street Pub(here) and it was anything but laying around. Lots of awesome models and awesome photographers came out to snap all the way until 11:30 PM. Raana, Payam, Kimmy, and new-comer Tre all rocked it in their fancy duds on top of cars, riding on a Vespa, and just standing proud. We were also fortunate enough to have a passer-by, Bill, and his brand-new, blue Dodge Charger in a few of the later pictures. Sadly, I had stopped shooting by them and was just walking around talking to people.

All of these photoshoots also put a huge strain on my post processing. In all, about 1500 pictures had to be processed for web, Facebook, and print use. I shoot in RAW which is a big file but also very easy to make a lot of adjustments to. So the process was time-consuming but also some what quick compared to non-RAW processing. I've finally been able to push through it all and finally get around to blogging!

This post has been more of a summary of things that have been happening, but I'll be working on each specific event as well as the usual weekly stuff like how business is doing and the 1,000 Picture challenge.

Once Again It's the Night Before

The nerves are a lot calmer this time around when it comes to shooting the Hooters Swimsuit Contest. Focus and prepared, I've got the bag ready. The camera and lens are clean. The battery charging in the wall. It's just a waiting game. Thankfully, I have had lots to do to keep me busy this week. Though my goal is to do 1,000 pictures of portrait composition, I didn't do a lot of picture taking this week knowing I had the Hooters shoot to do. In the mean time, I've been trying to get a few things on the list marked off--namely the logo and business cards.

The business cards and logo design has been hard to come by. The more and more I promote, the more I need the business cards to retain the initial contact. The best suggestion that's been made it getting a small batch of  plain cards with just my name and contact info. However, I want my business card to say something about my business, not some plain jane thing. Reluctantly I have decided not to do one at all than do something half rate. This is both a blessing and a curse. But I move along.

Speaking of the promoting, I have been knocking that out of the park. Made more contacts and have built some good relationships. If I do well maintaining these relationships I can end up with some amazing opportunities. So, if I have to spin a positive on not having business cards, this would be it. I even made an advertising page for assisting other photographers and the services I can do. No bites yet, but that won't stop me from networking with it.

Lastly, I have been doing a lot of post production. It's not the same as taking pictures, but the post production has allowed me to keep rolling out new pictures this week while nothing is coming in on the memory cards. I even made a new portrait portfolio that is up and running on flickr(here). This new portfolio should open up more opportunities to shoot not only the obvious portrait, but advertise for high school senior pictures as well as professional head shots. I will continue to shoot models at the APG meetings to further this portfolio. Nevertheless, I'm glad to finally have a portfolio of something I've very interested in exploring further. It's only up from here.

I guess to summarize it--it's been a productive week in the office, even if that office is at a table in Hooters of Cumberland. Looking forward to the day tomorrow and trying to use the nerves this time as fuel to do better than the last. In the end, this should be amazing publicity. I hope that I'll be able to do photo shoots for the girls aspiring to model not only for Hooters Inc. but for their own personal endeavors. Maybe if I get lucky, I can get some publicity for having pictures IN the Cumberland store. Until next time!

Thanks for following along,

The Wish List

So I'm enjoying my Monday night epiphanies and brainstorming sessions. So last week was about starting the weekly 1,000 picture challenge. It had its ups and downs, but overall I think it'll be a great way to challenge myself to become better. Any time spent behind the chassis of my Rebel XT is time well spent. Also, I'm loving the blog. It's great to see my ideas and what-not in writing and then able to reference them to go, "Oh yea, I need to do that still." Now, if only I remember to write down the stuff we come up with in our webi-sode brainstorming sessions.

So, in keeping with last week's Monday late night ideas session, I figured I'd lay out more of what's in store this week for Two Fish and I. Still a major project that got put on hold last week was the business card and logo. It's a shame I still have yet to get that done, but I've been back and forth on some ideas. In good news, I have a lead on a graphic designer. Hoping that a consultation with her will help me break a mental tie I have. But for now, no cards and no logo. So, that's still a big to-do.

One of the awesome things to come out of shooting the Hooters Swimsuit Contest(here) is that one of the area managers saw the pictures and asked me to shoot the finals in Kennesaw, GA. That way they get more pictures of the Cumberland girls to show off in their restaurant. If all goes well with that, I should get some nice publicity from having the pictures in the restaurant. This is still out of pocket for me, unfortunately. Yet, at this point in time I know I've got to spend a little money to drum up business. Even if I get a testimonial or a recommendation letter from Hooters Inc., it would be a huge thing for me professionally. June 3rd, which is a Friday(please no Rebecca B. jokes), I'll be up at the Hooters of Kennesaw off of US Highway 41(here) if anyone wants to come see some beautiful ladies strut their stuff.

Other than that I'll be hitting the social networking hard to get the Two Fish fan page(here) up and running strong. Hopefully with the fan page, I'll be able to market myself a little more and maybe get some paying gigs. Speaking of marketing, I was glad to get done a small page done for promoting my assistant desires. An assistant position with most photographers is one that may or not pay, and when it does it isn't much; but, it is a great way for me to learn and gain experience. I am handing out the link to the studios I have made good contacts with. I'll have to see if that page pays off.

Just like last week, I'll put this in list form for the quick readers:

  1. Business cards and Logo
  2. Hooters Swimsuit Contest Finals Friday, June 3rd
  3. Marketing and promoting
  4. Finding assistant work to gain more experience.

Thanks again everyone for being a fan and reading my stuff,

This Week's Challenge

Well, I don't know about the Two Fish nation, but I loved doing my Nifty 50 challenge(here). It went well, though I am reminded that not ALL my shots were with my 50mm  f1.8 Prime lens. Shame on me, but there were some great opportunities to shoot with a few different lens to capture some good shots. Namely, an amazing 85mm Prime L series professional lens at the Meet and Shoot(here) as well as this night skyline shot of Atlanta, GA. By the way, no that's not a body of water, that's my impromptu tripod--my car roof. I really like the reflection that ended up being captured.

Well, on to this week's challenge. Even though I could go with another lens challenge, I'm thinking of switching it up slightly. The Nifty 50 brought about some great portraits and I got some great opportunities to do portraits, I think it's time to practice more of my portrait composition. Now portrait composition might seem easy; for me, this will be a great challenge. I liked some of my landscaped portraits of the Meet and Shoot models, but I need to also see about using my lenses and my keen photographer's eye to compose a shot that can convey a message with a portrait. As well, I'll need to shoot 1,000 pictures of this to meet my challenge.

A few more details about last week's Nifty 50 Challenge. I ended up with just under 600 pictures total. A far cry from 1,000 but I forgive myself for 2 reasons. First, I found and joined a great group of people-- Atlanta's Photographers (here). These guys are amazing. As well, they are a huge networking source for me. Secondly, this was my first 1.000 picture challenge. It was tough, but it does not mean I wanna give up. I want to push myself to get 1,000 pictures. I did cheat a tad using 2 different lens, but 98% of the 600 something pictures were with the 50mm. Let's hope this week's challenge isn't too difficult!

In the Studio

This past saturday, May 28, I went to my first Meet and Shoot(MaS)--a sister program of the APG. I had an absolute blast and met some great people. This was my first time in a studio environment! Photoplex(here), in Alpharetta, GA, was an amazing facility and the owners were some very cool people to hang out with and ask tons of questions to. As well, everyone there that was a veteran of the MaS's were hugely helpful and made us new people feel right at home. The day was action-packed and by the end of my time I had tons of new great photos that have been well received on Flickr.

To keep this post shorter than my APG one, I'll just go over what I learned and share some cool sights I saw. One of the first things I learned about the group, off the bat, is how insanely helpful they are. At one point I mentioned shooting shallow depth of field with my Nifty 50 and someone in the background said, "Hold up!" and then escorted me to their camera bag. It was there I was handed an L series Prime 85mm f1.2 lens. Then told to how to achieve my look. After that, I went over to the model and began shooting. This lens, by the way, is NOT cheap. It is a professional grade lens and I was using it on my little ol' Rebel- XT--very out of place.

From there, it was a lot of learning about my angles and my poses. Poses are still plaguing me as far as coming up with something to tell the model as well as addressing issues that the poses are causing for the model. To elaborate a little about the last point: I really haven't been paying attention to the shadows and modeling light on my subjects. That's something I'll be fixing this coming week. Some times is cool to have dramatic shadows. Other times its just a nightmare in post-production to fix and even then it's still not going to be a great picture.

Nevertheless, I ended up with some stellar shots and definitely some worthy of the Portfolio tag. Portfolio--that is something I'll also be working on this coming week. I think it's time to break it down into sections and so be on the look out for these pictures to end up in my portrait section of my portfolio.

Well, it's off to make another post about this week's 1,000 picture challenge and to make a summary about this past week's Nifty 50 challenge. Thanks for checking out my pictures and thanks for reading!

The Next Step Up

So it might be a little corny, but I have to say the past 48 hours have been amazing. A high that I can't really describe, but want to hold on to so badly. So I think I have been telling this story the entire past 48 hours. It's a story I am proud to tell, but by the same token, I can be very long winded about. So the short and simple version before you read on is this: I've found a great group of photographers, models, and friends.  I've had the privilege to be in their company and share their experience with photography. What came out of a simple meeting of friends has opened a lot of doors for me as well as a feeling that I know being a photographer will always bring me joy and a sense of purpose.

Now, for the longer version. My buddy, Nick Pilch(here), and I were talking one day and found out we both used Flickr to upload our photos we shoot to the web. It was there that Nick encouraged me to look around his stuff. Now, he probably has come to find out that he's my first contact I've made on Flickr. And it got me thinking: what other contact opportunities have I missed out on cause I didn't go looking for them on this awesome site? So that led me to the Groups of Flickr and typing in the search field "Atlanta Photography". BAM! There is the first link, Atlanta Photographers  Guild(here). I begin to check it out and see that in about 24 hours they are going to have a meeting at their favorite shooting place, Elliot Street Pub(here).

Okay, Now my whistle has been rather moistened. Here is a guild for me to join up and network with as well as I get to shoot things--with a camera, my camera! Pinching myself, I quickly opened up many tabs on my Chrome browser and googled the poop out of these people. Who are they? Why haven't I run across them in my earlier searches? Where has this possible gem been hiding? The awesome thing was that every time I'd research something about the guild I kept getting a ton of positive feedback. Seeing the variety of skills and styles of picture-capturing, I knew I was going to their guild meeting on the 24th of May. I was sold. I smashed in the address of the pub and prepared my stuff to shoot for the following day.

I quickly realize that the day of I've made this promise to myself to shoot 1,000 pictures this week with nothing but my Nifty 50. I began to freak out that it would be a terrible lens to do these pictures with. But a promise is a promise and I told myself, "Nope, you cannot change any lenses when you start shooting." As I was pulling in I had this really cool observation of 3 separate fire trucks turning off of side streets and on to my street in perfect unison--one of which was a giant ladder truck. I arrived a little early and began to blossom as my wallflower self. Eventually a hobbyist, Mike, came up and introduced himself. He was very out-going and friendly and helped settle me in. A little later on the meeting started and my premiere appearance was announced to all.

That really didn't phase anyone. Most of the people that were at the announcement section of the meeting were seasoned guild members with the minimum amount of time spent in the guild being around 9 months. I was impressed by the number of people that had plenty of guild time under their belt. At the same time I was bombarded with names I suddenly realized I was going to have to remember. Thankfully the inter-activeness of the the modeling stations helped me re-learn the names I failed to commit to memory. It was a flurry of flashes as the first photographer donned their remote triggers to their camera's hot-shoe. After that, the high of taking amazing photos kicked in and time flew by.

I remember coming up on my first station and was greeted by the beautiful Heather and Caddy--the immovable, weathered Cadillac that's size dwarfed the petite model. Nervous as can be, I shakily put the trigger in it's adapter on my camera and fired my first shot. Looked at the back of the camera and wanted to jump up and down shouting, "I got one! I got a good one!" Instead, I refrained and just buried my big nose in the LCD screen on the back of my camera, stuck my left eye through the view finder and kept firing. I think I may have said 3 words to Heather the entire I captured pictures. Then waddled over to her with a stupid grin and showed her the back of the camera. She smiled with approval and then I moved on from station to station doing pretty much the same thing. At the end of the night for my last station I was blessed to have Jason and Reihaneh model for me.

It was this last station that I actually start to pose the models. But, I have to say I loved ALL the models because they were nice enough to keep posing, knowing to change once every few flashes. I sure hope Jason and Reihaneh had fun, because I went back to my theatrical ways had them participate in some big poses. The lighting for the last station was pretty simple. Earlier though, Reihaneh and I had a difficult time on the Caddy station. It was here that I learned two key things. One: that studio lights don't make everything easy. Two: I'm going to need to understand how the "preview" light on a studio strobe works before snapping pictures and ending up with less than flattering light on my model. Reihaneh was very understanding of my growing pains and gave me a mulligan to try a different pose but with a better lighting setup up for her. The things I learned in that little time with about 5 people involved in the learning process made me so happy to be apart of.

In the end, I learned a great deal about modeling and shooting people. I look forward to getting to take as many opportunities as I can to shoot more people and to keep learning about that and the lighting involved. Since the shoot I was busy playing in post production making not only a full color set, but also a full black and white set. Both have their own style and even cropping. I encourage everyone who is a fan of my pics to take a stroll on over to my flickr, if you haven't already, and check out all the pictures from the guild meeting. As well, don't forget to comment on what you liked and what you didn't like. It only helps me be a better photographer. And who knows, maybe one day I'll be taking pictures of you!

Thanks for reading,

The Nifty 50

So what else is new? It's 4 AM again and I can't sleep. I've made my rounds of photography sites and such. My go-to place is always Adorama TV on YouTube (here). It was there that I found this week's inspiration for the 1,000 photo a week challenge. Its time to shoot with my Nifty 50! Now what's a Nifty 50 you might ask? For most photographers is one coveted piece of glass.

Typically two versions of the lens are sold. One with simple construction and decent aperture. The one I'm using and typically the best lens for any photographer, especially beginner to intermediate, to own is the 50mm f1.8. Now I'm a Canon shooter so this is my guy (here). Now with most entry level lenses: they are the good, will do the trick, and if you're none-the-wiser--will be only lens you'll buy. However, just for use people who've got to have the latest and greatest they have the luxury series 50mm. Typically this 50mm will also boast a f1.4 or in some cases even an f1.2. This is a huge increase in the amount of light the camera can take it before requiring a flash for exposure. An example of the luxury 50 mm by Canon (here). The major points that make it luxury are a focusing ring that tells you at what distancing you're focusing to, a fixed front optic os pesky filters don't rotate on you as you're focusing, and always having a wider aperture for more light sensitivity.

So why blog about all of this? Simple. It's one of the lenses I love and I thought to myself I should master this lens if I love it so much. Now, I've shot with this lens a decent bit already. My favorite model right now has to be Rolo the English Bully (here). My main man loves the camera and loves the 50mm. Almost all of his shoots are done with 50mm. Picks up great detail and nice bokeh (what the heck is bokeh?--Wiki). This is also where my skill level shows. Not all the time do I get the right things in focus nor do I expose properly. Sometimes this is on purpose and is the effect I'm going for. Other times its cause I still don't have a firm grasp on this amazing lens.

Starting Monday May 24, it'll be the nifty 50mm all week in hopes of learning the ins and outs of the lens. Specially how to control the aperture for the proper amount of bokeh I get from each setting. How to balance the ambient light with any fill flash. Also, work on that dang flash and how it works! I think too, like some photographers have done, I might try to see if it is a lens I can build an artistic image with. A sorta brand if you will to the style of pictures I will end of taking. Whatever the outcome, I'm looking forward to shooting more pictures and to the lens they call the Nifty 50.

And what better to do when making a blog about a lens you own? Whip on the camera, use the laptop screen as one source of light, a closet light for another, and the flash to make a few pics to show people the lens. Then, I got all fancy and artistic and shot just the rim on macro mode with one of my other lenses. Hope you enjoy the artistic nature of them.

Things to do

So now that Hooters is in the books its time to work on the business a little. First thing I want to do is Work on a logo and a business card. That way I can get my name out there and advertise. The second thing I really want to get done in the coming days is to talk to a few photographers about mentoring and looking at my work. I love all the fans of pictures and love the comments I receive from my fans. However, I will always need a seasoned veteran to help analyze my photo-taking style and help me address areas that I weak on. Third thing I want to get done again this week  is shooting my 1,000 pictures per week goal. It's a steep number as of right now but I need that to push myself and to get the shots I need so I can start selling some pictures. As well, 1,000 pictures helps me scout new locations and connect with people to continue shooting. The fourth thing that I know that'll get done this week is going to see Otis Ogburn at the food stand to show him the pictures I shot Wednesday. The turned out great and look forward to what we can do to work together to get some of my pictures in printed media. Lastly, I will be doing some admin work on the company. Emailing contacts I had made at Hooters as well as drumming up more Facebook business for people wanting to help me out with my portfolio.

To recap, the list for this coming week is as follows:

  1. Logo and Business Cards
  2. Mentoring/Photo Critique
  3. 1,000 per week achieved again
  4. Visit Otis to get some advertising for our businesses
  5. Email Contacts made over the past week
This post is more or less to help me keep track of things. But also keep you guys in the loop. As well, if anyone has any helpful tips on knocking out anything on the list I will greatly appreciate it!

Thanks,
   Two Fish

The Day After

Michelle(left) and Sam(right) are finalist
in the Swimsuit Contest. They are also
Hooters of Cumberland girls. Congrats!
So, its a wrap. The Hooters shoot is in the books and I came out of the whole thing wiser and humbled. I felt very confident all the way up the time the girls hit the runway. I was coming off the high of a contact  for advertisement the day before. Some good pics from that previous day, as well. The first of the shoot was rough with a lot of frustration. At the half, I mingled with some photographers and regained my confidence. The second half went better and the top pictures ended up coming from that batch. In the end, I was glad I did it and can now move on to further my portrait skills in a more controlled environment.

I had got to Hooters around 2 PM and started working on the previous day's pictures. And I thought I would be able to do some "before" picture of them setting up and the girls hanging out. By the time I got here the tent was up, the inflatables were inflating, and the restaurant was already swinging into gear for the night's festivities. So I had a lot of down time. I mean a lot. But the awesome girls kept me company and I sailed thru until 7 went they started the tent seating.

With my credentials purchased and my drink tickets in hand I began doing some test shots. Snagged a few pictures of the girls working out side and a few "product placement" shots. And then... more waiting!! Finally, around 8:30 PM South Side Steve came out onto the runway and MC'd the night away. The First Round--the contestants wore public service outfits. 30 contestants in total and it took them a while to get to all of them. And in that time I think I had everybody and their brother hug/touch/block my camera. On top of that, the nerves had set in and I was desperately spinning my flash around to get the right bounce back. That's when I also noticed the settings on my flash were running at full, which meant I had to wait ~5 seconds between shots for the flash to recharge. I was not a happy camper. The crowd and an uncooperative flash made for a bad start for an important shoot.

It was the Second Round that was definitely my best stuff. I had met 2 photographers at the intermission that gave me some confidence and a new area to shoot from. That spot was the best! My white balance ended up being a little off but I didn't care. I'd fix that in post production. I was having a good time in my new corner. One of the photographers kept me company and we kept trading the back of the cameras in between flash recharges. This part went smooth. I had fun changing lens. Felt confident that the settings I had dialed in would last me for the shoot and I could concentrate on composition and even the contest itself. 7 contestants in total were from the location I frequent. As well, it was also the same location that the contest was held. So we were all cheering for our girls rocking it.

In the end, I got some good shots. The girls like them and I feel like I came out of it okay. The finalist even had 2 of the Cumberland girls! So congrats to Sam and Michelle. As for me, I really hope this opens up more portrait opportunities and we'll see what comes of the photographer from L.A.!

Thanks for tuning in,

The Night Before

Okay.. I shouldn't be up this late, but...I did lose some pictures after having a good impromptu shoot around my neighborhood. I met a cool guy today that runs a small vegetable and flower stand next to our small coffee shop. Otis Ogburn, the owner, allowed me to shoot in exchange that he'll get to see them to maybe use them in advertisement. Easy gentlemen's agreement, but not with any photos to show... : \

So yea, I had this cool idea to copy the set and do them in Black&White and have both a color set and a B&W set. Well that would have been a good idea if I did not delete all the pictures after importing them. On top of that, I did not have the pictures on the card because after importing I typically clean the card off to start again. So no back-up, nothing on the card and one giant, BLANK folder of pictures that once was. Needless to say I had a figurative bowel movement of shock and didn't get my pre-event chores done that I had set out to do.

Alas, if I was not going to be doing the pre-event chores, if I was going to be mad at myself, and if I thought all my options were exhausted; then HACK MY COMPUTER I shall!!! And dammit it was good! I slash hacked the shell prompt until it bled my pictures back and wish it had never gobbled them into hexadecimal hell. I even poked at my root directory, but then I realized that I'd gotten what I had come for and that attacking my root directory would leave me with one unhappy computer. I love my computer--picture gobbling and all.

So, all that nerd speak to say the pictures are back and I'm 6 hours behind where I wanted to be. No sweat!

Well its time to sign off and get the prep done,
   Two Fish

The Big Shoot is Coming Up!

My current set of equipment and in the background,
my tabletop studio I've made on the kitchen table.
So, with the frenzy of activity over here in Two Fish world getting more promotions and what not set up, I am also preparing for an important photo shoot for myself. Now, there isn't any thing great coming from this, nor am I going to see Major League Photographer scouts there. However, I am going to get a taste at event photography (something I hate never done) and good test of how long I can shoot--both physically and equipment wise.

Tomorrow, May 19th 2011, is the Hooters of Cumberland Swimsuit Contest (http://www.hooters.com/EventDetails.aspx?event_id=23346&store_id=56&service_key=007)! And Two Fish will be out taking pictures for most of the day. Hoping that I'll be able to get some candids leading up to the event and then be ready to shoot the main event at 8 PM. The weather(see here) is looking good for the day and that should make for a somewhat easier time there.

Mentally, I'm pretty prepared for this. I've been studying all that I can about my camera, the flash, the type of lenses I'm looking to use for which parts of the day. I've just got to do it now. Still a little unsure of using the flash off camera or not with my radio transmitters or not. It'll just be more equipment and pieces to keep up with. From what I have been studying--fewer pieces the better. As well, there is the issue of the flash. Now there is nothing wrong with it. It's brand new out of the box practically. However, for event photography it's almost mandatory to have a diffuser for it. Now its not mandatory I USE the diffuser but if I end up in a situation that bouncing the flash or having nothing to bounce the flash off of I'll need a diffuser to help bounce the flash around. Bottom line, a diffuser will help with any hard-edged shadows created by the flash. I'm sure, like my homemade softbox which I will showcase in a later post, that I will end up fashioning a diffuser that even Macguyver will be proud of.

So what's left before tomorrow?
Well, packing the gear and making sure everything is charge and I have backups of some supplies. Figure out what I'm doing about a card to hand out. I know, that should've been higher on the pre-planning list. Also, that I get a good night's sleep. This anticipation has been throwing me off. Clothes! I should be dressed for it and after finding out a little trivia behind what photographers where black I'll be preparing some nice dress blacks to wear. Ah yes, the anecdotal trivia about the photographers and black--it's not light reflecting material. So when looking into the eye piece of the camera you're not picking up any stray reflections of light. As well, you're not as easily reflective in the objects you're taking pictures of.

Well, I think I've ranted long enough about this. Time I up date the site to show this post off and relax for the evening before prepping and packing.

Until the uploads start tomorrow,

It's Finally Over!

After an extensive search and rehashing of old java code books I've FINALLY been able to convert the red theme of my template to a nice #000099 blue.

The template can be found here: http://www.premiumbloggertemplates.com/2011/04/solid-premium-blogger-template.html

Just showing off really all that was changed. But I seriously want to strangle this author though. I mean 8 shades of red? REALLY? And not all were in nice little classes so they were easy to find. NOOOoooo. This was a labor of slight dislike. Nevertheless, many thanks goes to the author and the hard work coding the template. Tip for next time, lay off so many slight shades of the same color.

Anywho, the blog should now be good to go. With the ground work set I don't see much else holding me back other than the writing of it. I think my next step is to maybe post a little bit about what's in store for Two Fish and I: establishing an identity, the equipment and where it still needs to grow, and the difficulties of what step comes first in trying to get off the ground.

At the end of the day, I'm very happy with what I've got done. Even more impressed that I remember enough coding to be dangerous and was able to come out of the whole process with a "site" I can finally share with people. Cross my fingers that as I grow I don't find anymore red...

It's 5:50am. I'm out,
